So far I have posted nineteen ads on nineteen different Craigslists. Unfortunately I just found out today that the links on about 50% of my ads were not linked properly, but that has been corrected. I also realized that not all of my links were going through the redirect, so the fact that I have only received 38 clicks probably does not accurately reflect my progress.

Anyway, 38 clicks and 19 ads later, I still haven’t made any sales. But it has been less than three days, two of which were on the weekend, so it’s probably not the most ideal situation quite yet. My strategy is to keep posting new ads on Craigslist, and to get my Google Adwords campaign going also. This week should be pretty interesting, I’m excited to get going.

Their system is very easy to start even if you don’t have any web design knowledge. It’s largely based upon online marketing, which is very easy to do through message boards and Google Adwords campaigns.

The best part is that through this system, you can build startup capital for your business without begging banks for loans or being stuck with loan payments while trying to build your business.

Like similar companies, Blogitive pays bloggers to post advetisements for their clients as blog posts, requiring certain links and link text. Instead of offering a different amount per post, Blogitive pays five dollars for every post, and has the same requirements for each post. All of your Blogitive posts must be at least 100 words long, and be separated by two 50 word non-Blogitive posts. Also, Blogitive only allows their advertisers one hyperlinked phrase, unlike some other blog advertisement companies. This makes it much easier for bloggers since they don’t need to remember to post multiple links, images, or tracking images for Blogitive ads.

Also unlike many other blog advertising companies, Blogitive pays $5 per post. No more, no less. Although some other companies like PayPerPost pay more per blog post, Blogitive only makes you wait a week to get your money. This makes the slightly lower payment per post acceptable since you don’t have to wait as long for payday. Blogitive pays by PayPal, and normally pays at the beginning of the week. There doesn’t seem to be a specific day that they pay, but it is normally between Sunday night and Tuesday.

Blogitive used to accept blogs from sites like WritingUp and BloggerParty, but they have just recently (early December 2006) had to discontinue supporting those blogs due to problems with those companies cancelling bloggers’ accounts. While that is unfortunate in the short term, and has decreased my potential for earnings personally, it is better in the long run to host your own blog anyway. I could go into the many reasons, but may just delve into that in a later post, instead of going off topic now.

I have been very happy with Blogitive, and while I haven’t made as much as I have through PayPerPost, I would definitely say that Blogitive is a great addition to your blog funding arsenal.

The first resource that I want to discuss is the PayPal Check Card. If you have a PayPal account in good standing, you can get a PayPal Check Card for free. Once you apply and get approved, you will receive the PayPal Check Card within about a week or so (by my experience). Since this is not a credit card, they do not check your credit. The PayPal credit card is a completely different beast altogether.

The benefits to having the PayPal Check Card are many. First, this means that you will have instant access to the funds in your PayPal account via ATM if you need good old fashioned cash, or you can also make purchases through those convenient Point of Sale things at almost every check stand in the United States and beyond. Instead of waiting for the transfer of funds from PayPal to go through to your checking account, now you have instant access (of course, you’ll have to pay ATM and PayPal fees, but it’s a small price to pay for the convenience).

Of course, since the PayPal Check Card is not a credit card, you can only spend as much as you have in your PayPal account. However, a little hint to get a little more cash in your PayPal account is that if you agree to advertise PayPal on your website (because you do have a website, right?), you can get 1% back on all purchases that you make with credit (not for debit, though). You can also upgrade your PayPal account to a money market account and start earning very decent interest on your PayPal balance.

If you don’t have one, apply for a PayPal account, apply for the Check Card, and remember to upgrade to get 1% cash back on purchases.

Many of SurveySavvy.com’s surveys are fairly high paying (many over $20 for 15-20 minutes of your time), which is great. One drawback of SurveySavvy.com is that all of their paid surveys are invitation-only. They will send you an email with a specific link to the survey, and will tell you in the email how much you will be paid if you qualify for it.

Frequently they will send invitations that don’t quite match up with your demographic information, so you won’t qualify. Fortunately the screening questions don’t take too long, and they will enter you into a monthly cash drawing just for going through the questions. Plus it’s free to sign up, so it’s not like you’re risking anything by signing up.

One such company, and one of my personal favorites, is PayPerPost.com. They are a fairly new company, but have really taken off and are paying bloggers a lot of money for posting blog entries. A few months ago, they got a three million dollar venture capital boost, and seem to be getting a steady stream of advertisers, so they should be around for quite a while.

The only thing to keep in mind is that to get approved your blog needs to be 90 days old, and have a fairly steady stream of new original content. Also, they don’t accept blogs from WritingUp.com or BloggerParty.com, so that’s one other thing to keep in mind.

Also, once you start posting, you will be paid 30 days from the day you submit your post. This means there’s a thirty day lag until payday, but once you get through the initial thirty days, you can maintain a steady stream of income if you continue blogging regularly.

The amount of money you make is largely dependent upon your commitment to your blog. The minimum price per post is four dollars, and you are allowed to post a paid post three times per day, so at the low end you can make twelve dollars per day. Sometimes advertisers offer amounts up to ten or fifteen dollars, so some days may yield thirty or forty dollars.
